We found some art in Copenhagen.
The sign said that “slumpies are a series of sculptures designed to hold our physical body upright while you scroll through your smart phone.
Kerri didn’t find them very effective for that purpose.
They were slightly better at holding the body non-upright.
We wound up in Copenhagen! This was a bit of a surprise because we booked tickets to Stockholm. But we booked them with Air Canada, so we should have known better than to expect to get where we paid to go. So we went for a walk down to Nyhavn, the waterfront area.
That’s where all the sailers and fishermen used to land, so the area was known for booze and prostitution.
But then they cleaned it up and painted all the buildings pretty colours.
So now it has “gentlemen’s clubs”, which sound so much classier.
The pretty colours reflect in the water.
They reflect in everything.
We went for a boat tour of the canals in the rain.
Did I mention that it was sunny in Stockholm? Thanks Air Canada!
We got to see the backside of the little mermaid statue.
And this weird dragon building.
It’s pretty hard to tell that they are dragons without binoculars.
And the opera house with the roof that serves as a high dive into the canal.
These are Swedish wolves.
They are more colourful than arctic wolves.
They had puppies this year too.
Very itchy puppies.
This is a European brown bear.
It’s the same species as a grizzly but smaller and looks different.
This is the best view we got of the wolverine.
Swedish otters are just as ferocious as Canadian otters.
But still very cute.
Baby reindeer are also cute.
Reindeer are the same species as caribou, and look about the same.
Swedish geese squack less than Canadian geese.
Swedish bees are busy.

This is a Swedish sheep.
It’s a lot like other sheep.
These Swedish sheep are special because they shed their wool.
So the farmers can just pull it off instead of shearing them.
This is a Swedish rooster.
They are extra hardy and good at being cold, which is important in Sweden.
This is a Linderöd pig, the only native pig breed in Sweden. It apparently looks very different from a modern pig. We haven’t spent enough time with pigs to notice.
This is a Swedish goose.
Skansen is kind of like Fort Edmonton Park, except that Skansen was already a historical park in 1891, when Fort Edmonton was still a fort.
So the historic buildings aren’t basically identical to Grandma’s house. Also the guy who owned this house was definitely richer than all of our grandmas combined.
The sami that live way up north build these storehouses on stilts to keep the pests out.
They live in these goahtis which are kind of like tipis but with more peat.
This is a modern summerhome that looks like a goahti because apparently the owners missed being crammed in a tiny space so they do it while on vacation.
This is a windmill.
This is a model of the houses poor people lived in in the 19th century.
This is a rune stone.
This is an old pill maker from the pharmacy.
This is a delicious cinnamony thing.
This is an engineering worshop from the 1920s
This is the incoming power for it, which weirdly was 120V 60Hz. So if you’re ever time travelling to old Sweden you don’t need to remember to pack a converter.
