• Antigua Friends

We did make some friends on our little beach.

    image

    This is Gregory.

    image

He lives under the shelter and mostly eats dropped picnic scraps so he never really comes out into the light.

    image

    This is Livingston.

    image

He is a very brave adventurer.

    image

Except when we startle him. Then he tries to hide in the sand.

    image

This is Sandy. She is sand coloured.

    image

This is Brock. He is big and shy.

    image

    This is Rocky.

    image

He is ready for a fight.

    image

    Quite the little tough guy.

  • Antigua

We spent the last two weeks in Antigua doing nothing.

    image

The beach in front of the hotel was very secluded and mostly private.

    image

The snorkelling was OK but we were too lazy to even go SCUBA diving.

    image

The hotel was quite small so there were not many people to intrude on our private beach.

    image

Matt ate the local specialty, conch curry.

  • Antigua Snorkelling

We may not have been adventurous in Antigua but there was a reef just outside the guesthouse and we managed to find a couple things.

    image

This was a sneaky puffer fish. I didn’t see him until swimming right overtop of him as he was rested on the sandy floor.

    image

Most of the area that I explored looked like this.

    image

There were lots of interesting looking sea grasses growing in the shallow waters before the reef. To get to the reef you had to walk over it which I didn’t really want to do.

    image

Partly because these urchins were all over the place and I didn’t want to bump into any of them.

    image

This was a tiny rock on the beachside of the reef and I went here several times to visit the residents.

    image

There was only one lonely butterfly fish. I’m not sure why he decided to hang around with all these other fish. Maybe he go confused by the colours and though he was one of them.

    image

The one fish that I made sure to keep an eye on was this guy. Didn’t want to get stabbed by him.

    image

This guy must have swam over the reef as I saw a couple others on the other side but only one here.

    image

Most of the time I would find these fish by getting too close and having them dart away extremely fast.

    image

The bottom looked quite neat as I swam over top. It was quite shallow and in most places I could reach down and touch the grasses from the surface.

    image

Had to pay attention to the current and where I was drifting to make sure I didn’t get stuck.

    image

I did my best to get some cool pictures of the lionfish because they are really beautiful fish, tasty buggers too.

    image

The reason why everyone was hanging out could be due to these guys.

    image

I’m not sure if they are a type of cleaner shrimp but maybe.

    image

I think this was a display of “go away this is my rock and stop bothering me”.

    image

Instead I continued to hang around and get more pictures of shrimp and got to see a couple of different urchins hanging out too.

    image

    But one last picture first.

  • Milan Duomo

Here is a very gothic style building.

    image

There are many carvings all over the outside, including this webbed foot long necked dinosaur?

    image

And this super long necked dragon.

    image

    And locusts.

    image

    And chicken dragon?

    image

And beheadings, who doesn’t like a good beheading?

    image

I can understand why touching Jesus’s leg might be lucky, but the guy whipping him? Why are people rubbing that?

    image

David is fighting the lion without even waking up the pigeon on his head.

    image

Even in stone they try to shoo away the pigeons.

    image

I don’t really have words for this one.

    image

The gargoyles were lions with cannon mouths that you carry over your shoulder.

    image

Matt says they probably weren’t like that to begin with and they added the tubes to extend where the water fell.

    image

Sometimes the statues helped by opening their mouths more so they could fit the tubes in.

    image

This is just a pretty window, because we don’t want to end on something so violent.

  • Granada Feast

We couldn’t go to Spain without eating some of the food there. Or enjoying the drinks. Matt had a whole jar of sangria all to himself minus a sip that Kerri really regretted.

    image

We ate some ham. Here are legs waiting to be used in the future.

    image

    It was really good.

    image

The paella was not very good. Matt did better so he’ll be in charge of paella in the future.
