• Vienna Amusement Park Museum

Here is Matt playing a game he was very excited about but doesn’t remember at all.

    image

These are the belongings of a very tall man and a very short man.

    image

Matt stood next to the suit of the tall man.

    image

    Kerri tried to hug home.

    image

Then we went for a ride on a 95m tall swing at 60km/h.

    image

Here we are at the bottom, slightly dazed and confused.

  • Most Photographed Building

A few months ago we visited one of the most photographed buildings in the world. And decided to try to take a picture no one had taken before. Guess which building?

    image

Here is the top of the kitchen through a window.

    image

Here is someone’s office in a back room.

    image

Have you guessed which building yet?

    image

    It’s a really famous building.

    image

But people don’t usually take pictures of the tents outside of it.

    image

    Or of the inside.

    image

    Or of this room.

    image

    Or benches.

    image

    Or this window overhang.

    image

    Or whatever angle is is.

    image

There is a lot of glass in the building.

    image

    And tiles.

    image

But really what buildings don’t have tiles and glass.

    image

The building is a bit curvy.

    image

    Sometimes pointy.

    image

    Very wavy.

    image

Okay maybe we’ve given too many hints.

    image

But we took a lot of pictures so you can enjoy them waiting for the reveal.

    image

There are some pretty cool angles that you can get when wandering around the building up close.

    image

    Look at all the concrete.

    image

Okay I hope you’ve got it now.

    image

Can you tell we had some time before the show we were going to.

    image

Plenty of time to take tonnes of pictures.

    image

It was a really cool building to wander in and around.

  • Fancy Show Church

This church was built by church builders basically as a showroom to sell their talents. So pretty much everything in it is fake but looks impressive.

    image

Jesus was locked up behind bars, and not very happy about it.

    image

This angel was about to strangle himself, but the skeleton stepped in.

  • Residenz

The Residenz is the old royal palace in Munich. It was badly damaged during the war and reconstructed from pictures. They are still restoring parts.

    image

This statue is wearing an elephant hat.

    image

This is the grotto. They made a courtyard in a fancy palace look like an elaborately decorated cave.

    image

Caves are apparently decorated with seashells.

    image

Lots and lots of sea shells.

    image

    In very unnatural colours.

    image

I can’t tell whether this guy is supposed to have horns or a crown.

    image

This is a big empty hall where rich people used to eat.

    image

It has a big collection of carved heads of dead people.

    image

The ceiling has old paintings of all of the cities in the area. Munich was much smaller back then.

    image

Royal bedrooms never look very comfortable.

    image

This is the 18th century version of taking a picture of in a lab coat in front of test tubes filled with food colouring to make them seem sciencey.

    image

This is a depiction of the annual banana harvest. The bananas are in the background and they are obviously collecting pineapples, but the label said it was a banana harvest so it must be true.

    image

There were lots of weird rooms with weird paintings and mirrors.

    image

This seems like a way to break a very expensive clock.

    image

I don’t remember what this is, but it looks shiny and expensive.

    image

This is the head of John the Baptist. There are only eight of those in the entire world!

    image

This is the fancy room where the relics used to be stored.

    image

This is the secret doorway out of the King’s bedroom.

    image

This is the king’s bedroom. The fence is for the audience who got to watch him go to bed and wake up in the morning.

  • Fall in Munich

Look at all the pretty colours and all the leaves.

    image

Even though it was freezy cold it was pretty out so that made it bearable.

    image

We have no idea what the monuments or statues were of but the walk was very pretty.

    image

This building stuck out of the trees. It was something that was important enough to be on the map, but not important enough that we bothered to visit it. Or remember what it was. But we haven’t become lazy or anything.

    image

There  was a river that flowed through the park.

    image

    It was pretty.

    image

People were surfing on the river.

    image

    Which seemed cold and dangerous.

    image

But there was a long lineup of people in wetsuits waiting to try.

    image

This is some Bavarian government building.

    image

It was a pretty day for a walk in the park.
