This is an 89 butterfly. Whoever named it was looking at the other side.

The flowers attracted bees

There were also some colourful birds

That liked to do headstands

They were pretty cute

These birds have a yellow belly

Some of the trees were pretty colourful too.

These birds were bright orange but hung out in the shade where they were hard to see.

This bird is grey, but in the jungle anything that isn’t green is colourful.

OK maybe we just didn’t know what to call a miscellaneous post

The Wiwa grow peppers in the jungle

They also grow coffee

And spikey things.

Flowers are colourful

Tejo is like lawn bowling

But the little triangle targets are full of gunpowder

So they explode when you hit them

This shot was definitely thrown by Kerri and not an experienced guide

The guide usually managed to hit right in the middle and not cause an explosion.

Most people were more interested in the spectator sports

We found the lost city

Using the same method as most intrepid explorers

We paid someone who already knew where it was to take us there.

We have named it Kerrimatt’s Newfoundville

The locals call it Teyuna

But when has that ever mattered?

Everyone calls it the Lost City because of some National Geographic documentary.

But that name is just silly now that we’ve found it!

And we wouldn’t want it to have a silly name!

The buildings were all made of mud and wood

So all that’s left is the round foundations

And stairs.

Two roads diverged in a green jungle

And sorry we could not travel both

And search for creatures, crawly and fungal

Along the path looked Matt, the uncle

To where it bent in the undergrowth

Down those forgotten paths there could be

Ancient cities of magnificence

And that has made all the difference

Because we didn’t get lost in the wood

and eaten by a jaguar or a snake

Or step where we should not have stood

The path less traveled surely would

have made absolutely everything ache
