The fluffballs headed down the slope

Toward the mud

But they didn’t have rubber boots

But they stomped through the mud anyway

And stood around looking unimpressed

With their noses turned up, like they were too sophisticated for mud.

The one in the fur-lined tuxedo ran away

And the fluffiest fluffball went to tattle on him.

The one in the fur-line tuxedo looked left

And looked right.

And asked a grownup where fluffy had gone.

But he wasn’t down in the mud anymore

He was waddling up in the grass.

Some of the pictures look like the penguins are dancing

But in person they looked more like slap fights

But the penguins didn’t actually seem very upset at getting whacked by wings

So I guess theses guys are really best friends.

Even if they sometimes get their beaks in each other’s faces.

And look like they’re challenging each other

They’re all just hanging out

Together

Or alone

Can you tell I’m running out of things to say about penguins?

Matt says we don’t need 15 penguin posts

But we do

Because penguins are awesome

And weird

But I think I’m done for now.

Because Kerri had the camera

Fuzzhead wanted Fluffy to go in the water

He shook the water out of his fuzz and sprayed Fluffy

And said “get in the water”

“right now”

Fluffy said no

Fur Collar came down to see what was going on

And waved his wings energetically

This didn’t influence the standoff in any way.

So Fuzzhead left

And Fur Collar turned away

And then they all waddled away from the water.

Fuzzhead blowdried his hair

Fluffy tried to blow dry his back

But it was hopeless.

The king penguins seem to like yoga.

They do the backwards rubber neck

And arm flaps

Lots of rubber neck stretches

Sometimes it’s hard to even figure out what direction the neck is going.

Then there’s the foot-to-the-side-balance

The 180 degree neck rotation

The nose-under-the-wing

The forward plank

The toe-to-ear

The nose-to-toe

Even the teenagers get into it

I bet you can’t bring your toes up to your forehead and you have much longer legs!
