We went back into Torres del Paine in a car
Like smart people do
We still couldn’t really see the spikeys
But at least our legs didn’t hurt finding that out.
It has a famous cave where a giant ground sloth was found, but we didn’t go visit it.

Later in the day we could see the spikeys
With clouds behind them and next to them.
It didn’t last long.
This is a fire-eyed diucon.
This is a Magellanic oystercatcher
This is a duck (Matt says so)
This is an angry bird (Matt says so)
This oystercatcher thinks Matt should try harder.
This is a South American grey fox
This is a red fox
They are much bigger than the grey foxes

Matt says this is a falcon
This is a rhea. We saw them all over South America from the Pantanal down. But this is the first time we managed to get a picture.
Day 8 started with a rainbow.
That happens when it’s raining.
The wind blowing across the water made a lot of mist.
And it was hard to tell the difference between the trail and the lake.
The lake was bluer.
Even though it’s named grey lake.
It had big waves from the wind.
The flowers were wet.
There were supposed to be mountains.
Matt was very impressed.
He was slightly more impressed when the end was within sight.
But he wouldn’t stop for a picture.
There was a lot more snow on the mountains when we finished than when we started.
Day 7 was the 6th day of waking up in a tent
If you count what Kerri’s doing as waking up.
Our tent was at the foot of the scenic mountain
And at one point in the morning you could almost see it!
And the smaller one next to it
And the smaller hills
That didn’t last for long.
The clouds rolled in
And it got wet
And windy
And grey
ALthough sometimes you could still see mountain tops.
There was a forest fire a few years ago and lots of areas hadn’t recovered yet.
