See where the waterfall goes under the glacier?
It makes a cave.
Big enough to crawl inside.
It was pretty wet in there.
Melting glaciers make a lot of water.
It was also very blue.
Because only the blue light gets through.
Everything white glowed like it was under a black light.
Some of the ice was pointy.
It was more clear than the top of the glacier
It’s real ice not just packed snow.
We left the waterfall
And went for a walk on the glacier
There was ice everywhere.
Our guide had to carve us a trail with a pick axe
And we had to step across crevasses
Which were very deep.
And climb up hills
Our guide didn’t have a planned route because the glacier changes every night
So we were stuck in this area for a while.
So you’re going to see a lot of pictures of this blue hunk of ice with two blue cracks in it.
Because there wasn’t much else to take pictures of.
There was ice in every direction.
But that hunk was the most attractive.
Other than Matt of course
Matt walked towards it.
So did Kerri.
She got some help.
Matt got some help too.
But we made it.
The hunk is even prettier with a mountain behind it.
Next we had to walk to get to the glacier.
There was a lot of ice in the water.
It looked like you could just hop on the icebergs to get there.
But for some reason that’s not the way the guide took us.
So we decided to follow him.
Ice is very heavy.
And there was lots of it.
We kept walking along the shore
And got closer to the big glacier
Which was much bigger than us
And we walked closer
Until we were right next to it.
And we could see the big blue cracks
And the tiny people walking on it.
And the dirt
And the rocks that had been all scraped up by the glacier.
Look at all those crazy people walking over that cave
The cave is bigger than Matt!
The ice underneath is very blue
And wet
The ice was in big chunks
That needed to be poked.
We walked some more.
Until we got to the waterfall
Next to the glacier.
To get closer to the glacier we had to get on a boat.
Our boat was narrower than that one.
We had to sail past big icebergs.
Kerri wanted to Titanic pose on the front of the boat but Matt said no.
He’s no fun.
The ice looked icy.
The glacier towered over us.
Except the little feet, they weren’t as big.
Some sections leaned to the left.
And some sections leaned to the right.
We didn’t see any stand up, sit down or fight, fight fight.
Did Kerri just get a sporty reference right?
There was a bar set up on the glacier.
The guide collected some pristine glacier ice (please ignore the visible dirt)
Matt had whiskey on the rocks.
