• Infinity Room

The infinity room stretches on forever.

    Image

    Except not really.

    Image

It’s pretty hard to see through the forest if you’re any closer.

    Image

At the end of it there’s a little railing.

    Image

But if you look past the railing it still looks like it stretches on forever.

    Image

And if you look down you can see the top of the forest.

From the railing looking back it’s a long way but not nearly forever.

    Image

But it is a long walk back.

    Image

And the ground moves a bit because it’s cantilevered, which is a bit scary.

  • World’s Largest Carousel

This is the world’s largest carousel

    Image

You can’t ride it, but it does really spin.

    Image

This is what it looks like from the top.

    Image

The carousel is at House on the Rock, after you come out of the tunnel with teeth.

    Image

A lot of the animals on the carousel are weird.

    Image

Some are just a bit weird.

    Image

Others are still giving Kerri nightmares to this day.

    Image

The sign says there are no horses on the carousel. But there are plenty of horses in the room with the carousel.

    Image

And a lot of things on the carousel that are basically horses, like unicorns.

    Image

    Or horses with weird tails.

    Image

    Or armoured centaurs.

    Image

And things that look more like a sea-horse than a seahorse does.

    Image

This animal appears to be half-donkey, half-horse, and yet is definitely not a mule.

    Image

There were also a lot of ferocious animals.

    Image

    Some of them were armoured.

  • National Mustard Museum

The National Mustard Museum is very yellow.

    image

They have mustards from all over the world.

    image

And lots of mustards from Canada.

    image

    Including Edmontonian mustards.

    image

    And Toronto mustards.

    image

They have mustard plasters and other mustard-based cure-alls.

    image

    And mustard art.

    image

    Various examples of mustard-inspired art.

    image

Capable of fulfilling everyone’s artistic tastes.

    image

    Everyone who likes mustard anyway.

    image

Although some things may be a bit extreme even for mustard fans.

    image

They even had mustard art for movie fans.

    image

    And R-rated movie fans.

    image

They have the world’s only mustard-only vending machine.

    image

And a big store selling even more mustard.

  • Giant Whale

House on the Rock has the World’s Largest whale sculpture.

    Image

    It may be life-sized.

    Image

And no one is quite sure what kind of whale that is supposed to be.

    Image

Those are definitely not whale teeth.

    Image

And that is definitely not a whale tongue.

    Image

A boat has apparently become shipwrecked inside the whale’s mouth.

    Image

It is unclear whether the whale knows this.

    Image

His tail is over three stories high.

    Image

Like everything else at House on the Rock, the room is dark and nothing quite fits inside it, making it very difficult to take pictures.

    Image

But for some reason Kerri took a lot of pictures anyway.

    Image

The whale is being attacked by an octopus.

    Image

The octopus has very large dead eyes.

    Image

The only thing real is the whale eardrums, which aren’t in the whale but nearby.

  • Mount Olympus

Our hotel had 3 full waterparks. We don’t even know how many pools!

    image

It had lazy rivers, two of which were high speed.

    image

It was kind of fun except that getting out involved getting wet.

    image

Which Kerri was not a fan of.

    image

This is the main outdoor waterpark.

    image

This is the private outdoor waterpark for people staying at the hotel only.

    image

We do not have pictures of the indoor waterpark. The outdoor theme park had several wooden roller coasters, including the only wooden roller coaster that goes upside down, which is suspiciously made of metal.

    image

But almost all of the rides at the outdoor theme park were various go kart tracks. Given that we were mostly in Wisconsin Dells to break up a very long drive, driving less comfortable cars in a loop did not seem very appealing. So we skipped all of those.

    image

We won’t even talk about the “indoor theme park”, which consisted of a few of those coin operated mall rides and an arcade.
