There was a baby tawny frogmouth at the Omaha Zoo! They are suprisingly cute for their ugliness.
There were also owls.
And Ugandan cranes.
And brightly coloured unknown birds.
This one was brightly coloured and blue.
This one was not brigthly coloured at all.
This is a road runner. He refused to pose and say “meep meep” for the camera.
The Omaha Zoo aquarium was a little bit creepy.
They had shark eggs.
And garden eels.
They disappear into the sand whenever fish swim by.
They had lots of fish.
And crabs.
There was a baby monkey at the Omaha Zoo too!
He was older than the gibbon and already eating solid food.
And running around on his own without Mom.
But he was still much smaller than Dad.
Which meant he could still get in a lot of trouble.
When he was in trouble he ran away.
And hid.
Then they made up and Dad gave him a hug.
There were lots of plants at the Omaha Zoo.
For some reason Kerri took pictures of these ones.
No one really knows why.
The Omaha Zoo lets the kids feed the archerfish.
The children are supposed to hold a cricket where the archerfish can see it. Then the archerfish squirts it with water and the kid is supposed to drop it, like it would drop if they successfully hunt it in the wild.
But the kids don’t really get it so most of them were just throwing crickets at the archerfish.
Kerri tried very hard to get a picture, but they are really fast. She got squirted right in the eye once. But the only successful picture is this one, which is just the very start of a squirt.
